Jetting off to the other side of the world has its pros but travellers are now looking closer to home and discovering a world worth visiting, right on their doorstep. The UK especially, with its beautiful green landscapes, fascinating tales of history and quintessential eccentricity, would provide any wanderer with something worth sticking around for.

Having once been responsible for controlling shipping in and out of Aberaeron harbour, the Harbourmaster has since been converted into a luxury boutique hotel, complete with 13 bedrooms and a coral-painted cottage. The award-winning restaurant (and many of the hotel’s rooms) overlook the harbour, with the Wales Coast Path stretching out in both directions. This is the ideal place for a ‘staycation’.
Enjoy some top-notch seafood (think Welsh lobster and crab) as you watch the fishermen that brought it to your table venturing to and from the quay outside. Head Chef Ludo Dieumegard has featured on Celebrity Masterchef and brings a real French influence to local Welsh ingredients.

The hotel has also teamed up with the new Llaethlliw vineyard, which was planted in 2009, and you can either try a glass at the bar or make your way to the vineyard yourself. They’ve also established their own bespoke cycling routes that’ll skip all the hills and traffic and leave you nothing but relaxing, quiet routes.
