The birth of the ‘baby dragon’

We work closely with Postojna Caves, one of Europe’s most popular showcaves and among Slovenia’s top tourist attractions. When they told us that their secretive inhabitants, the olm (or ‘baby dragons’) had given birth for the first time in years, we knew that this would make for a great story.
.
After preparing eye catching headlines and a press release we took our story to the world’s leading science publications and we communicated separate stories to news networks, international newspapers and websites.

The campaign resulted in over 50 pieces of coverage in UK and international publications, with each article describing the egg laying news and relating the news back to Postojna Cave and the fact that the cave can be visited by tourists.
>
With an estimated 12,693,014 reach in the UK alone, the campaign globally reached an estimated 240 million based on unique visitors to well known global websites such as the Geographical Magazine, The New Scientist, The New York Times, The Daily Mail and Asiaone.com. This was estimated via audience figures for the publications that published articles on the campaign.
